Job Summary
Field Technician II to install, test, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment across assigned geographic areas (e.g., Tri-Cities area). Responsibilities include installation and commissioning of optical transmission systems (SONET, TDM, DWDM, IP/Ethernet), OTDR/BER testing, site surveys, preventive maintenance, and on-call rotations. Must be able to work with limited supervision, communicate with customers and teammates, and operate company vehicles; shift may include overtime and overnight travel. Requires hands-on experience with transport equipment, high voltage electrical systems, DC power, and related test equipment; HS diploma or equivalent required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years Telecom Field experience: installing, testing or turning up a variety of telecommunications equipment including SONET, TDM, DWDM, and IP
- Minimum of two (2) years ISP, DC Power, OTDR experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic telecom and/or industry safety training (a plus)
- Ability to maintain eligibility to operate a company issued vehicle (state license, driving record)
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
