Field Technician II - Marine Engines

Job Summary
Field Technician II specializes in troubleshooting and performing advanced repairs on marine diesel engines (inboard) and related systems on yachts and commercial vessels. Responsibilities include engine disassembly/reassembly, maintenance of fuel tanks/pumps/filters/fuel injection and lubrication/cooling systems, shaft alignments, tuning and diagnostics using test equipment, and repairing electrical control systems. The role requires diagnosing performance issues, carrying out major overhauls, and providing on-site service at customer locations. Must have strong mechanical proficiency across multiple systems (transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.), at least six years of experience with four years on Cat equipment, and the ability to operate a service vehicle and communicate effectively with customers. Education must be a high school level or GED, with travel to customer sites required; CDL/DOT certifications may be needed for some positions.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or GED
- Six years of experience with at least four years on Cat equipment
- Proficient in at least four mechanical systems (e.g., transmissions, engines, hydraulics) for numerous model lines
- Must be able to lift/position parts up to 102 pounds
- Must be able to operate a service vehicle daily
- Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record; CDL and/or DOT medical certification may be required for some roles
- Must be able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions at docks/marinas
- Ability to write repair activity reports and communicate with customers on-site
