Job Summary
Field Surveyor will lead or be part of a survey crew to provide layouts for heavy civil construction; operate Trimble Total Stations and GPS equipment; coordinate surveying activities with Project Managers and Engineers; ensure project accuracy and safety; located onsite full-time at the New Lock at the Soo project in Sault Ste Marie, MI; requires physical ability to work in various field conditions and travel; strong communication and attention to detail are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience working as a surveyor, ideally on heavy civil construction projects
- Proficiency using surveying equipment including levels, robotic instruments, and GPS receivers
- Knowledge of field survey engineering methods/techniques
- Ability to operate Trimble Total Stations and GPS equipment
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Be willing to climb ladders, work around traffic, and in all types of weather
- Must be physically able to work in the field and travel across rough surfaces
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
