Job Summary
The Field Survey Technologist will lead the survey process on sites under the guidance of a Project Manager, performing legal, topographic, right-of-way, construction layout, as-built and engineering surveys across land development, infrastructure and other projects. Duties include data collection in the field with data collectors, robotic total stations and GNSS, preparing field notes and sketches, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with standard procedures, maintaining survey equipment, coordinating with the Survey Assistant and Project Manager, training new team members, and adhering to safety guidelines including daily Field Level Hazard Assessments. Occasional overnight travel is expected; majority of work is in the Lower Mainland region of BC. Proficiency with Leica survey tools and software (Captivate, Exchange, etc.) is an asset; a valid BC driver’s license is required.
Required Qualifications
- Survey Technology Diploma
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in survey setting
- Valid BC driver’s license
- excellent driving record
- physical fitness for lifting equipment
- experience with Robotic total stations and GNSS
- Leica Survey equipment and software knowledge (asset)
- ability to communicate effectively written and verbal
- strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- ability to train and develop team members
- ability to perform field computations
- ability to carry out safety guidelines and Field Level Hazard Assessments
