Job Summary

Conduct on-site installations, troubleshooting, testing, splicing, and repair of telephone, video, fiber optic, and customer premise equipment for new and existing clients. Respond to trouble dispatches, locate defective cable using test equipment, and perform cable fault acceptance tests on newly constructed facilities. Maintain orderly logs of locate requests and mark underground facilities to prevent damage during construction. Provide proactive sales support and education on TDS products and services while delivering exceptional customer service. Requires pole climbing, operating construction equipment, and working outdoors in extreme weather conditions. On-call and standby responsibilities are mandatory, with occasional travel and overtime as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must follow the TDS attendance guidelines
  • Must be available for on-call/standby responsibilities
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed
  • Must successfully complete customer-specific requirements, which may include a background check administered by the customer
  • Must successfully pass all components of the Safety Course curriculum
  • Ability to maintain DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements in relation to operating vehicles with a combined GVRW (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of >10,000 lbs
  • A+ certification
  • Computer networking experience
  • Gain an understanding of telecommunication products and services: Inside Wiring/Cable, Internet/Intranet, Bonding & Grounding, Data & Computers/Transmission Concepts, Fiber Optic Transmission, Static Sensitive Equipment, Color Codes, Structured Wiring, Video/CATV/DBS Installation, Inventory Systems, Cable Locating, Battery Maintenance, Key Systems/PBX, Centrex, Switch Maintenance, Voicemail, Special Circuits, Fiber Terminals, Subscriber CXR Terminals, T-1s, ISPs, DSL, ISDN Voice & Data, Testi...
  • Practical knowledge/experience with computer applications including (but not limited to): Databases, Trouble/Repair/Dispatch Systems, Plant Record Systems, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently with little or no supervision
  • Demonstrated customer service and sales skills
  • Effective communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to operate vehicles with manual transmissions
  • Reside within a 60-minute driving distance from the Waunakee, Wisconsin warehouse located at: 328 Raemisch Rd - Waunakee, WI 53597
