Job Summary
Perform on-site installations, troubleshooting, testing, splicing, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, fiber optic facilities, and customer premise equipment for new and existing clients. Identify defective cable locations using test equipment, repair buried and aerial lines, and mark underground facilities to prevent damage. Respond to dispatches, perform cable fault acceptance tests, and maintain orderly logs of locate requests. Provide excellent customer service while proactively educating clients and selling TDS products and services. Reside within a 60-minute driving distance of the Tonto Basin, AZ warehouse and be available for on-call rotations and occasional overtime. This role supports TDS Telecom's mission to deliver high-speed internet and connectivity across the U.S.
Required Qualifications
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- Must follow the TDS attendance guidelines
- Requires being available for on-call/standby responsibilities
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed
- Upon hire, must successfully pass all components of the Safety Course curriculum
- Ability to maintain DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements in relation to operating vehicles with a combined GVRW (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of >10,000 lbs
- A+ certification

- Practical knowledge/experience with computer applications including (but not limited to): Databases, Trouble/Repair/Dispatch Systems, Plant Record Systems, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel
- Ability to work and make decisions independently with little or no supervision
- Demonstrated customer service and sales skills

- Proven organizational skills

- Ability to operate vehicles with manual transmissions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Gain working knowledge of RUS Standards and Grounding practices associated with splicing and maintenance of outside plant facilities and equipment
