Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy and compact construction equipment, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, at branch locations and customer job sites. Operate company vehicles safely while adhering to DOT regulations and traffic laws, and perform preventative maintenance, equipment setup, and inspections. Document labor time, job notes, and parts usage in company operating systems, capture repair imagery, and manage inventory on service trucks. Collaborate with team members, report safety incidents, and attend required manufacturer training. This safety-sensitive role requires a valid driver's license, DOT physical, forklift operation, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in heavy and compact equipment repair
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, laptops, and manufacturer software
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Experience using diagnostic software, laptops, and electronic service tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability and willingness to learn and stay current with new equipment, systems, and technologies
- Basic computer skills for time entry, service documentation, communication, and parts lookup
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company and General Liability driving requirements
- Must pass a DOT physical
- Must maintain a safe driving record
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull parts and components weighing approximately 10–75 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access all areas of equipment
- Forklift operation required
- Ability to travel as needed for service calls and training
- Must be able to perform at customer job sites, branch facilities, and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to handle regular exposure to heavy machinery, noise, grease, and moving equipment
- Must supply and maintain personal tools required to perform the job
