Job Summary
Field Service Mechanic A responsible for preventive maintenance and on-site service of Herc Rentals fleet at customer jobsites. You will diagnose and repair heavy equipment, including pumps, HVAC, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems; perform oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose and parts replacement; educate customers on proper equipment use; produce detailed service reports and logs; maintain safe, organized jobsite work areas; and build positive customer relationships. Requires hands-on mechanical expertise, ability to interpret schematics and manuals, operate multiple vehicles/equipment, on-call availability, and strong communication skills. This role involves independent field work dispatched to local job sites with leadership in product knowledge and adherence to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
- Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels
- Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services
- Ability to be on call to support operational needs
- A valid driver’s license
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs on an active jobsite
- Customer service skills to engage with jobsite foreman
- Solid written and verbal communication skills and ability to perform basic computer operations
