Job Summary
Field Service Technician responsible for on-site diagnostics, service, and repairs of heavy equipment (Bandit tree care, recycling equipment, Henke, Wausau-Everest, Swenson snow equipment, Vactor, TRUVAC, Elgin infrastructure). Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems; assembling/installing components; wiring electrical panels; developing repair plans to OEM specs; traveling to customer sites for field service, providing warranty support, and maintaining professional customer relationships; identifying parts, completing service reports and work orders, and using manuals and schematics; operating shop equipment safely (forklifts, telehandlers); adhering to OSHA and safety standards; and traveling locally/regional from base in Salt Lake City, UT. Qualifications emphasize 5+ years of relevant experience, ability to read schematics/diagrams, PLC familiarity, independent field service, tool ownership, valid driver’s license, and potential CDL/DOT requirements. The role requires physical work in shop/field environments and occasional extended travel.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair; tree care, environmental, snow, construction, vocational truck, or similar equipment experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service documentation; PLC systems and basic programming concepts preferred
- Experience performing field service and working independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with basic computer functions for service reporting, documentation, and communication
- Must possess a personal set of hand tools and willingness to expand tool inventory as needed
- Maintain a valid driver’s license, and if required to operate a commercial vehicle weighing more than 26,001 pounds, must be able to pass all requirements necessary to obtain a CommercialDriver’sLicense (CDL) for DOT purposes and maintain an active license
- Ensure all repairs and service activities meet company quality and safety expectations
