Job Summary

Diagnose, repair, and inspect Rivian vehicles at service centers or customer locations, including conducting road tests and managing parts operations. Execute electrical, chassis, thermal, and ADAS repairs while documenting all work and communicating professionally with customers and suppliers. Maintain inventory, order parts, and provide feedback on process improvements to senior leadership. Stay current with technical skills and complete required training for high-voltage and low-voltage systems. Work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision, available for a 40-hour week including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or other recognized high school equivalency credential
  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, with no driving-related suspensions or revocations within a 3-5 year period
  • Must be available for a 40-hour work week, which may include weekends, holidays, and shifts during early morning, evening, or overnight hours based on business needs
  • Proficient with laptops or computers in Windows or Mac environments
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, walking, and frequent use of hands for grasping tools and data entry
  • Physical exertion may be required to perform occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.)
  • Ability to read and speak fluent English
  • Ability to see, read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or schematics
  • Foundational understanding of basic electricity theory and the ability to safely use a DVOM for various circuit measurements
  • Reading and leveraging electrical schematics as a diagnostic resource
  • Understanding the risks involved with high voltage systems and the ability to safely power them down and work on them using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Understanding the function of various high voltage components and their monitoring systems
  • Ability to diagnose complex high voltage faults related to charging, isolation, and interlock loop issues using the manufacturer's diagnostic processes
  • Proficiency in fundamental chassis service, including the ability to mount and balance tires, perform vehicle alignments, and replace brake system components
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical suspension components and progress to repairing advanced vehicle dynamic issues related to traction control, ABS, and power steering
  • Ability to resolve complex drivability concerns such as Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH)
  • Ability to service vehicle thermal systems, starting with the ability to perform a coolant drain-and-fill and safely handle refrigerant with a 609 certification
  • Comprehensive understanding of the entire A/C system and its components
  • Ability to proficiently use an A/C machine and diagnose a range of thermal system concerns, including issues with coolant systems, air conditioning performance, and HVAC systems
  • A working knowledge of ADAS, beginning with a basic understanding of the features and their operation
  • Ability to replace system components and perform necessary calibrations for ADAS
  • Advanced understanding of the functionality and limitations of the complete ADAS system and the specific roles of its various sensors
  • Assisting with glass removal and installation to safely replacing windshields and other glued body fixtures
  • Adjusting body panels to specified tolerances
  • Diagnosing and repairing issues such as wind noise and water leaks

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer
  • Hands-on work experience in an automotive shop
  • A background in electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid repair
  • Experience in start-up environments
  • Experience with parts departments, billing, and work order management systems
