Job Summary

Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications products including Key Systems, PBX, Centrex, fiber optic, and copper cable for new and existing customers. Perform splicing, cable fault acceptance tests, and locate buried, aerial, or underground facilities using test equipment while marking company lines to prevent damage. Respond to dispatches, perform project management for system installations, and proactively educate customers on TDS services such as telephony, video, and high-speed internet. Reside within 60 minutes of the Waunakee, WI warehouse and maintain a valid driver's license for on-call and travel duties.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year basic technical telecommunications experience
  • current/prior military service with honorable discharge
  • 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, or switch training
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to maintain DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements in relation to operating vehicles with a combined GVRW (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of >10,000 lbs
  • ability to operate vehicles with manual transmissions
  • reside within a 60-minute driving distance from the Waunakee, Wisconsin warehouse
  • willingness to work overtime as needed
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong technical understanding of fiber and copper plant installation and troubleshooting

  • Ability to work and make decisions independently with little or no supervision
  • Demonstrated customer service and sales skills
