Field Service Technician

Job Summary
Install, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment, controls, and components at customer sites while performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues. Provide technical support and training to customers, communicate repair status and documentation, and ensure scheduled commitments are met. Develop vendor relationships and coordinate with internal departments to resolve complex problems. Travel up to 50% of the workweek, including overnight trips, and maintain a valid driver's license. Bring basic hand tools and demonstrate strong decision-making skills in fast-paced industrial environments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED from a technical school
- One to three years of experience working with CNC machines and controls
- Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills
- Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, manuals and diagrams
- Trouble shooting skills and attention to detail with technical aptitude
- Strong understanding of customer satisfaction
- A valid driver's license
- Must have access to reliable transportation
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the workweek; some overnight travel required
- Must provide basic hand tools for electrical/mechanical repair at own cost
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both professional and non-professional, co-workers, management personnel, the public and others
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities
- Able to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision
- Must be highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises
- Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects
- Ability to sit for prolonged period of times
- Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees
- Ability to frequently use hands and arms
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment
- Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas
- Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills
- Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
