Job Summary
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues involving industrial alternators, generators, and power generation components. Troubleshoot AC/DC systems, rotating equipment, and controls using multimeters and diagnostic tools to identify equipment failures. Provide on-site technical support, training, and guidance to customers while ensuring repairs meet engineering specifications. Read schematics and wiring diagrams to resolve complex technical issues, partnering with internal engineering teams for advanced solutions. Prepare detailed service reports documenting findings and results. This role requires extensive travel up to 100% and is based in Wausau, WI.
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of field service or related industrial maintenance experience
- Experience with alternators, generators, motors, rotating equipment, or similar industrial equipment
- Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems and controls
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience using multimeters and other diagnostic and testing equipment
- Mechanical aptitude, including experience with bearings, alignment, and rotating assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage your time
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively—up to 100%
- The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- An Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field
- Experience with industrial alternators or synchronous generators
- Knowledge of PLC systems and control panels
- OSHA or other applicable safety certifications
- Previous customer-facing field service experience
