Job Summary
Field Service Technician responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex electro-mechanical and laser processing systems at customer facilities; performing preventative maintenance, calibration, and system upgrades; installing and commissioning new systems and retrofit upgrades in the field; training customer personnel; documenting service activities with detailed reports; collaborating with engineering and technical support teams to resolve issues and improve performance; providing remote technical support when not traveling. Required skills include experience with CNC and PLC-based systems, electro-mechanical troubleshooting, ability to travel up to 80% primarily in the U.S. and Canada (occasionally international), strong customer service, and a technical degree or equivalent field experience. The role emphasizes independent work at remote customer sites and a long-term commitment to supporting advanced industrial laser systems in high-precision manufacturing environments.
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree in Electronics, Robotics, Automation, or related field – or 5+ years of relevant field service experience
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 80%, primarily throughout the U.S. and Canada, with occasional international travel
- Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment such as CNC machines, PLC-based systems, or automated machinery
- Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills with ability to work with electrical, optical, and mechanical test equipment
- Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work independently at remote customer sites
- U.S. Citizen with a valid passport and ability to pass required background/security checks
- Proficiency using standard PC tools and documentation systems (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
