Job Summary
Perform scheduled and remedial service on Small to Medium UPS, Power Distribution Units, and Battery systems for retail, financial, and municipal customers. Render on-site and phone assistance, implement Field Change Notices, and communicate with Technical Support on procedural issues. Maintain customer satisfaction by providing estimated arrival times and striving for a first-time fix on all equipment. Complete accurate administrative tasks including time cards, expense reports, and service documentation while adhering to the 14-hour work rule and safety guidelines. Operate company vehicles and maintain inventory in accordance with published policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School or Vocational School Diploma
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment background check
- Must be able to complete and pass a motor vehicle records check
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- No sponsorship for work authorization will be provided
- 2-4 years military experience in a related technical field
- 0-2 years of relevant industry experience
- Must be able to communicate professionally and respectfully in both written and verbal forms
- Must be able to manage time effectively by prioritizing and balancing technical tasks with administrative tasks
- Must be able to collaborate with peers, customers, suppliers, and leadership
- Must be able to complete administrative tasks (i.e. report writing, time entry, expense reporting, material debriefing, inventory counting, etc.) in a timely fashion
- Must be able to make basic site evaluation skills to include: environmental temperature, and general operating conditions
- Must be able to be familiar with electrical / electronic test equipment and fundamentals
- Must be able to follow written technical documentation (i.e. procedures and product manuals) to perform service tasks
- Must be able to employ elementary fix/repair techniques based upon directed supervision
- Must be able to complete service tasks and return unit to full operating conditions based upon directed supervision
- Must be able to summarize and report all work related tasks performed in written and verbal form
- Must be able to be efficient with a personal computer and associated applications (Microsoft Office, Vertiv software, etc.)
- Must be able to adhere to company dress code and safety regulations
- Must be able to meet or exceed on-site response time requirements for each customer
- Must be able to understand and comply with company startup/escalation processes and procedures
- Must be able to maintain proper and adequate level of internal communications
- Must be able to adhere to work hours policy guidelines – '14 hours rule'
- Must be able to report all work related accidents or injuries within 24 hours to the appropriate personnel
- Must be able to operate in a safe manner in accordance with published safety guidelines
- Must be able to maintain and operate company vehicle in accordance with local laws and company policy
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE as per company guidelines and accordance with job duties
- Must be able to travel
- Must be able to work flexible schedules (weekends, evenings, and holidays)
- Must be able to provide proper and adequate communication to internal and external customers
- Must be able to provide estimated time of arrival to the customer where applicable
- Must be able to complete scheduled maintenance documentation properly and provide to the customer and local office upon completion of each assignment
- Must be able to strive to provide all customers a 'first time fix' for their equipment
- Must be able to maintain customer satisfaction rates per company guidelines
- Must be able to attend Customer Meetings as required
- Must be able to maximize productivity by combining service opportunities
- Must be able to complete all technical and administrative work in an efficient and timely manner
- Must be able to be capable of making technical and commercial decisions under pressure
- Must be able to properly evaluate site and equipment for appropriate billing status
- Must be able to maintain productive utilization rate per company guidelines
- Must be able to perform inventory cycle counts per company guidelines
- Must be able to render on-site and phone assistance to customers
- Must be able to communicate with Technical Support on technical or procedural issues
- Must be able to implement Field Change Notices per published guidelines
- Must be able to keep current on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips
- Must be able to perform service tasks as assigned and as per company policies and procedures
- Must be able to be capable of working under direct supervision or independently based upon training completion
- Must be able to establish, promote and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives and others as appropriate
- Must be able to support products and services sold to our 'Edge' market segment, including retail, financial, and municipal customers
- Must be able to complete accurate and timely administrative tasks (i.e. Time cards, expense report, mileage reports, Service Request task closure, service reports) per company guidelines
- Must be able to maintain individual inventory and perform cycle counts in accordance with company policy
- Must be able to maintain company property (company vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, etc.) per company policies
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment background check
- Must be able to complete and pass a motor vehicle records check
