Job Summary
Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, software, and automation-related issues on Okuma CNC machine tools and related equipment. Travel to customer locations to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tools while performing installations, commissioning, and retrofit packages for new models and advanced manufacturing equipment. Provide technical support via phone, email, and remote tools, then document service activities and communicate findings through detailed reports. Develop and maintain technical bulletins, repair procedures, and guides to strengthen distributor capabilities. Collaborate with customers, distributors, and internal teams to ensure timely issue resolution and continuous improvement of service delivery. Maintain compliance with safety standards and OSHA certifications. Requires extensive travel (75%+), 5 years of CNC/automation experience, and ability to work in warehouse or customer sites.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in CNC controls, servo systems, PLC's, automation, as well as fundamental mechanical background including precision measurement, machine tool theory, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- 5 years of prior machine tool experience
- Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications as required by job duties
- Frequent travel required (75+%)
Desired Qualifications
- Okuma-Howa product knowledge
- Prior technical writing experience
- FANUC CNC experience
- Okuma preferred
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics a plus
