Job Summary
As a Field Service Technician for Ocado Intelligent Automation, you will act as the primary contact for technicians resolving issues in the field, utilizing your automation background to solve complex problems. You will mentor coworkers, manage resources during repairs, and oversee major hardware and software updates. The role requires significant travel to customer sites for evaluations, installations, and maintenance tasks. Key qualifications include a BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, with over five years of relevant experience and strong skills in robotics and automation.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS – Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in a related industry (e.g. industrial automation)
- Ability to independently perform complex repairs on both mobile and industrial robotic systems
- Ability to de-escalate, communicate, and document customer requests
- Experience supervising and training coworkers
- Experience assisting with new robot bring-up and supervision of installations
- Familiarity with industrial robot arms and autonomous vehicles
- Familiarity with automation and industry safety standards
- Ability to write and implement robotics preventative maintenance schedules and teach associated tasks to coworkers
- Ability to document any processes required to deploy and maintain our systems
- Able to interpret wiring diagrams, diagnose electrical problems, and write detailed reports
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding and experience working with WMS and WES architectures
- Experience working alongside Network and Software team members while completing project deliveries
- Design and prototype electrical systems for both large and small-scale applications
- Able to specify automation-grade electrical equipment
- Able to create and maintain electrical schematics for electrical panels
- Comfortable using a Command Line Interface
- A passion for learning new skills and improving service quality
- Excellent understanding of application and network stacks to assist in troubleshooting and diagnosis of issues
