Field Service Technician II

Job Summary
Independently perform start-up, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and service support for IEM electrical distribution equipment, including switchboards and control panels. Install and modify electrical and mechanical components while analyzing system failures to identify root causes and determine corrective actions. Coordinate with Project Managers, contractors, and internal teams to resolve product and customer-reported issues, then accurately document all service activities and follow-up requirements. Assist with on-the-job training and mentoring for entry-level technicians. Occasional travel up to 75% may be required to regional field offices and vendor sites.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience supporting switchgear start-up and commissioning
- Minimum of 1–3 years of related electrical, mechanical, technical, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, or field service experience
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and power distribution systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing
- Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to accurately document service activities, corrective actions, parts usage, and follow-up items
- Must be able to bend, lift, and carry equipment and materials up to 50lbs
- Occasional travel (up to 75%) may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent experience in power distribution systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, or related equipment commissioning activities
- Ability to assist with training, mentoring, or shadowing Level I technicians
