Field Service Technician II

Job Summary
Conduct intermediate-level installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of power transformers and high-voltage substation equipment. Perform hands-on tasks including transformer assembly, oil processing support, gasket and bushing work, and basic electrical and mechanical testing under limited supervision. Log and maintain operating records while utilizing drawings and instruction manuals for construction and operation of electrical facilities. Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as bucket and derrick trucks and oil processing units. Use oscilloscopes, wattmeters, and other instruments to test specific equipment. Perform switching, obtain clearances, and make sites safe for work. Collaborate with line crews and contractors as assigned. Work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights while traveling up to 75% domestically and occasionally internationally.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Current and valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to pass a fit for duty exam
- Availability for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime
- Willingness to work occasional weekends, holidays and nights
- Ability to travel up to 75%
Desired Qualifications
- Supplemental courses in electrical maintenance
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- NCCO Crane Certification
- Some knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of electricity
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions required in working in a power distribution facility
- Ability to learn to read and interpret electrical diagrams and prints
- Ability to learn to read and interpret a variety of power generation and distribution metering and recording devices
- Ability to learn the practices and procedures of the industry
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
