Job Summary
Execute site assessments, start-up, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and automatic transfer switches at customer locations. Diagnose and resolve issues involving paralleling switchgear, ATS, control systems, and mechanical equipment while developing and managing predictive and preventative maintenance programs. Lead complex commissioning, upgrade, and modernization activities to ensure systems are validated and performing to specification prior to handoff. Perform advanced troubleshooting, service, and repair on critical power distribution and automation systems, adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Collaborate with the local field service team and headquarters to maintain alignment and support technical training for customers and employees. Submit detailed project documentation and expense reports accurately. This role requires up to 50% travel and includes medical, dental, vision, and 401k benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance on power distribution and control equipment
- Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related electrical, control, and automation equipment
- Strong knowledge of applicable health, safety, and electrical codes and standards, including CSA, NFPA, and UL requirements
- Proficiency with general PC tools, including email, internet, data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneNote, as well as the ability to use smartphones and mobile applications for daily work tasks
- Ability to read and interpret detailed electrical schematics and mechanical drawings with accuracy and confidence
- Strong customer service orientation, with a professional, solutions-focused approach in the field
- Willingness to travel up to 50% as required by customer and business needs
Desired Qualifications
- NETA or NICET certification (ETT Level II or higher) in electrical equipment testing
- OSHA 30-Hour, MSHA, and NFPA 70E training
- Proven experience starting up and commissioning low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling switchgear
- Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical equipment, including switchgear, automatic transfer switches, circuit breakers, and generators
- Advanced understanding of industrial control systems, including metering, protective relaying, relay ladder logic, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
