Field Service Technician - BESS

Job Summary
Commission, troubleshoot, and maintain solar inverters, BESS systems, and ancillary equipment at customer sites or staging yards. Perform pre-commissioning, preventive maintenance, and long-term service agreement activities while investigating DC array faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients. Lead upgrade and rework projects, manage contractor safety compliance including JSA and daily activity reports, and coordinate with engineering and SCADA teams to resolve high-level technical issues. Document troubleshooting sequences, mechanical and electrical problems, and corrective maintenance accurately. Serve as a safety second when needed and ensure full compliance with site documentation and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline from an accredited university or college
- 3 plus years of overall experience in a technical field
- 2 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS
- Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required
- Must be able to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the ductions of the job
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- OSHA, NFPA70A, Electrical Safety
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- 80% Plus travel
- Contract role
- McAllen/Rio Grande City, TX area
- No visa/legal sponsorship

Desired Qualifications
- Renewable industry experience is desired
- Power Electronics experience is desired
- OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire
- NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire
- Experience and/or certification with MV transformers a plus
