Job Summary
Field Service Tech responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, and upgrading Pattyn packaging equipment across North America. Works almost exclusively at customer sites with ~90% travel. Duties include equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up; service and repairs; promoting parts sales and equipment upgrades; training customers in operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting; electrical/mechanical diagnosis and implementation of product improvements; documenting visits and expenses; arranging travel; and generating service reports. Requires extensive electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities, PLC/IPC experience (Beckhoff TwinCAT 2/3), and familiarity with ABB and Fanuc robotics. Education in electrical/mechanical/automation systems preferred (associate or bachelor’s). Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-focused mindset; ability to read electrical schematics; located in Sussex, WI with travel across North America.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 – 4 years of experience in industrial automation is preferred, but additional training at the Pattyn factory in Belgium and/or France is required regardless of experience.
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, automation systems, or related discipline is desired.
- Technical Skills: Excellent working knowledge in the Microsoft Suite; ABB and Fanuc robotics programming strongly preferred; PLC/IPC knowledge for diagnosis and basic modification; ability to read electrical schematics; ability to travel across North America.
- Other: Ability to work on-site at customers’ locations; strong communication and customer-service skills; teamwork and ability to prioritize/multitask; 90% travel; on-site schedule and travel planning
