Job Summary
Field Service Specialist – Valves responsible for on-site installation, fault-finding, commissioning and maintenance of high/low pressure valves and related rotating equipment. Reads engineering drawings, performs precision fitting and alignment (including bearings and various bearing types), valve trim/seals/packs/seats, and applies precision measurement tools. Requires experience with valve actuation, pump systems, fault-finding, and commissioning; provides training and technical leadership to Field Service Engineers and supports the Field Service Supervisor. Emphasis on safety, adherence to policies, and ability to work on diverse valve and equipment installations. Located in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Required Qualifications
- 4 Years Experience in Valves, Actuators and controls
- 2 Years experience specific to KSB Product
- Knowledge of HP and LP Valves
- On-site Valve Machining and Lapping
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting ability
- Understanding of valve trim, seals, packing, seats, and internal components
- Precision fitting with reference to components assembly (bearings, white metal sleeve type and roller/ball bearings, tilting pad arrangements)
- Precision measuring ability (micrometers, verniers, depth gauges, telescopic gauges, DTIs)
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
- Shaft and coupling alignment (dial indicators and laser method)
- Experience with rotating equipment (blowers, compressors, gear reducers, motor drives) and pumps
- Exposure to pump systems, fault finding, start-up, commissioning
- Ability to train Field Service Engineers
- Compliance with company policies and safety procedures
- Provide leadership and technical assistance to field service engineers
