Job Summary
Diagnose and repair Carl Zeiss Medical Technology and DORC EVA NEXUS instrumentation across multiple Canadian regions, performing installations, upgrades, and preventative maintenance. Lead as the territory's technical expert for DORC products, approving module swaps and prioritizing accounts based on financial impact and patient well-being. Schedule and verify customer visits, provide remote triage, and maintain spare parts inventory and tool calibration. Submit field service and monthly expense reports per standard operating procedures while supporting temporary backfills for employee absences. Operate under a flexible national deployment model with extensive travel requirements and variable schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of previous field service experience or relevant experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics or Optics
- Theoretical understanding of basic electromechanical, electronic, and optical systems
- Basic understanding of troubleshooting techniques and approaches
- Must have very good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong computer skills with the ability to obtain specific certifications as required
- Must be self-directed, able to work independently with limited management oversight
- Multiple project and time management skills
- Must have a thorough understanding of schematics and complex technical data
- Basic understanding and knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and diseases of the eye
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
- Ability to obtain and maintain valid travel documentation for travel to the United States, Germany, and other required jurisdictions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with several Carl Zeiss Medical Technology product lines is an asset
