Job Summary
Plan effective work and travel schedules with the Service Supervisor, prioritizing customer needs and part availability. Diagnose malfunctions and repair or replace worn parts, installing new assemblies and adjusting controls to restore equipment operation. Perform prompt repairs or replacements on customer premises, conducting inspections, operating, and testing machines upon delivery, at intervals, or after repairs to ensure proper function. Report time, parts, travel, and mileage details to the supervisor for accurate billing. Maintain a neat appearance and keep the service truck clean and orderly. Complete work orders and job-related paperwork timely. Drive a company vehicle with a valid license and good record, adhering to DOT certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Capability of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- DOT certifiable
- Age of 21 years or older
- Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair
- Three years on the job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics
- Pass the tacker test
- Ability to stay overnight at out-of-town locations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as an experienced or advanced serviceman serving as a troubleshooter on recurring or unusual problems
- Experience conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve problems
- Ability to train new servicemen
- Ability to supervise a team of servicemen
- Experience in assembling or servicing of large units
- Experience in a joint effort on large repair jobs
- Welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test
