Job Summary
Diagnose malfunctions, repair or replace worn parts, and install new assemblies to keep machines in operating condition. Perform prompt repair or replacement service on customer premises, including initial delivery inspections, operator training, and routine maintenance calls. Consult with the Service Supervisor to plan work schedules and travel, reporting time, parts, mileage, and malfunctions for accurate billing. Maintain a neat appearance and keep the service truck polished. Complete work orders and job-related paperwork timely. Requires a valid driver's license, DOT certification, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Incumbent may stay overnight at out-of-town locations.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Capability of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record
- DOT certifiable
- Age 21 years or older
- Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair
- Three years on the job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics
- Pass the tacker test
- Ability to stay overnight at out-of-town locations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience serving as troubleshooters on recurring or unusual problems
- Experience conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve problems
- Experience training new servicemen
- Experience supervising a team of servicemen
- Experience assembling or servicing large units
- Experience in joint effort on large repair jobs
- Welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test
