Job Summary
Field Service Mechanic B providing expert mechanical support to keep Herc fleet in optimal condition at customer job sites. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, oil changes, lubrication, tire and hose work, diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, testing fuel/electrical/hydraulic/propane systems, reconditioning parts, educating customers on proper equipment use, generating service reports and repair logs, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized job site. Must operate safely on site, manage time efficiently, and build positive relationships with customers; on-call rotation and field visits to customer sites are required. Requires hands-on tool ownership, ability to read technical schematics/manuals, and the ability to drive and operate multiple vehicles/equipment; regular communication with team and customers is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels
- Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services
- Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
- Ability to be on call to support operational needs
- A valid driver’s license
- Strong customer service skills and effective communication
