Job Summary
Field Service Mechanic A responsible for leading knowledge-sharing and ensuring Herc fleet remains in safe operating condition on customer job sites. Dispatches to local jobsites to perform preventive maintenance, oil changes, tire replacements, hose and battery work, and to diagnose/repair heavy equipment across fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems. Responsibilities include reconditioning parts, educating customers on proper equipment use, analyzing wear, maintaining a clean, orderly jobsite, producing detailed service reports and repair logs, following established procedures, and building positive customer relationships. Requires on-call availability, ability to operate heavy equipment, and strong communication skills; on-site duties at assigned locations with safety compliance and time-management focus.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
- Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels
- Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services
- Ability to be on call to support operational needs
- A valid driver’s license
