Job Summary
Commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize industrial combustion systems across the United States while investigating root causes of equipment failures. Review and adjust PID loop programming, utilize electronic test equipment to interpret system performance, and interface directly with plant operators and management. Provide recommendations to improve system reliability and efficiency, prepare detailed service reports, and ensure strict compliance with safety standards. Identify spare parts needs and gather technical information to support sales and proposal development. Travel up to 80% of the time to support customers throughout the US.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in engineering technology or applied sciences from an ABET-accredited program
- Bachelor's degree preferred, specifically in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or an equivalent technical discipline)
- For candidates with less than 4 years of applicable experience, reasonable proximity to the Pittsburgh headquarters is required to support onboarding and initial training
- Fluency in English
- Able to write reports in English to summarize findings and work completed
- OSHA 10-Hour and NFPA 70E safety training (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver's license
- Valid passport or ability to obtain a passport
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time (90+% of this travel will be in the US)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous field experience with industrial combustion systems, burners, furnaces, or other heat-processing equipment
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to calibrate, use, and analyze data from mechanical and electrical instruments
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
- Familiarity with PID control systems and instrumentation
- Experience following and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in communicating in Spanish
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing field conditions
- Strong desire to learn and grow within a technical field service environment
