Job Summary
Install, commission, and calibrate precision manufacturing equipment at customer facilities while performing preventive maintenance to ensure reliability. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and CNC-related issues, providing on-site and remote technical support to customers. Train clients on proper operation and safety, interpret technical drawings, and maintain detailed service reports and calibration records. Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve recurring issues and ensure compliance with safety standards. Travel 50% to customer sites in the Minneapolis, MN area and 50% to the Center of Excellence in Zimmerman, MN.
Required Qualifications
- Successfully complete a criminal background check
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Flexibility to work extended hours as business needs dictate
- Travel Requirements: 50% at customer site (Minneapolis, MN area) with 50% at our Center of Excellence (Zimmerman, MN) for training or instruction, with the potential of international travel in the future
- 4+ years of precision motion and/or automation equipment experience in a Field Service Technician/Engineer role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet service commitments
- Experience with multi-axis CNC machines, metrology equipment, stages, or high-tolerance machining systems
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
- PLC programming or diagnostics experience
- Knowledge of ISO quality standards (Training/documentation material creation)
- Bachelor's degree or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with lasers, optical assemblies, servo systems, and robots is a plus
