Job Summary
Field Service Engineer in Portage, IN responsible for on-site troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial automation equipment in a metals-processing environment. Role includes preventative maintenance, on-call emergency service, maintaining service documentation and customer logs, and daily customer communication to ensure issue resolution and satisfaction. Supports small engineering projects and identifies sales opportunities for service contracts, renewals, and system upgrades. Requires operating safely in electrical, mechanical, and pressurized industrial environments and travel 50–70% domestically. Candidate should have an engineering degree in Electrical/Controls/Automation or equivalent hands-on experience; 5+ years of field service or industrial automation experience preferred; 2+ years leading or coordinating projects preferred; strong PLC experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE), VFD experience (Siemens, ABB, Allen-Bradley), HMI software experience preferred; metals-processing experience strongly preferred; proficient in Word, Excel, and Visio; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
