Job Summary
Lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of protective relays, including SEL relays, while performing and overseeing electrical testing of circuit breakers and switchgear. Provide detailed recommendations based on testing outcomes and equipment condition, then prepare and review test reports to ensure accuracy. Mentor junior technicians and interface with clients on-site to communicate findings and project updates, ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry best practices. This field-based role involves approximately 90% of work on 480V low-voltage systems with travel throughout the Southeast U.S.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in relay testing, field service, or power systems
- Strong experience with SEL relays
- Hands-on experience with switchgear and circuit breaker electrical testing
- Ability to analyze test data and make technical recommendations
- Solid understanding of low- and medium-voltage systems (primarily 480V)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
- Field-based role with travel throughout the Southeast U.S.
- Approximately 90% of work is on 480V (low-voltage) systems
