Job Summary
Field Service Engineer responsible for startup and commissioning of turbine controls equipment, testing electrical systems, and providing on-site training and technical support to customers. Travels up to 90% with extended on-site assignments, works in challenging environments (dust, heat, noise), adheres to PPE and safety regulations, collaborates with service and project managers, and interfaces with suppliers and contractors to deliver solutions. Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience; travel by air or car and valid driver’s license are required. The role involves programming, startup, and commissioning of turbine controls, conducting tests, producing timesheets and expense reports, and providing remote and on-site troubleshooting and customer support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
- 2+ years of electrical engineering experience
- Experience with unit and generator auxiliary systems or willingness to learn
- Ability to travel up to 90% of time, extended site assignments (~6 weeks)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites by air or car
- Ability to lift 50 lb and perform physically demanding field work
- Compliance with PPE and safety requirements (hard hat, safety glasses, PPE)
- Experience with field startup, testing, and on-site customer training
- Proficiency in creating test reports and timesheets
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols
