Job Summary

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry instrumentation while performing preventive maintenance to maximize customer uptime. Manage service schedules, complete documentation, and close work orders using company systems. Deliver technical support and training across Western Canada, including approximately 50% overnight travel and international trips to the U.S. for required training. Work safely in laboratory environments while building trusted customer relationships. This role offers high autonomy for an experienced engineer supporting diverse analytical platforms in academia, industry, and healthcare.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma, Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Electronics, Engineering Technology, Physical Sciences, or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years field service experience supporting analytical instrumentation or equivalent technical experience
  • Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Commitment to safety while working in customer laboratory environments
  • Valid Canadian driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance and routinely transport service tools and equipment
  • Frequent travel throughout Canada with regular overnight travel as required
  • Must be eligible to travel internationally, including to the United States, for required training and business support
  • The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain all necessary travel documentation, including a valid passport
  • Candidates must already be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application
  • Visa sponsorship and international relocation assistance are not available for this position
  • Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.)
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Daily travel within the assigned territory is required
  • occasional overnight travel (approximately 50%) throughout Western Canada for customer support and training
  • Initial and ongoing technical training is conducted primarily in the United States and requires international travel
  • Candidates must be eligible to travel to the U.S. for required training and business support

Desired Qualifications

  • Laboratory or bench chemistry experience is considered an asset
  • Candidates with approximately five or more years of progressively responsible field service experience supporting analytical instrumentation are strongly preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and demonstrated technical expertise across multiple Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry platforms will also be considered
  • The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise across both Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry instrumentation, with demonstrated experience supporting multiple platforms
  • Hands-on service experience supporting at least three of the following technologies is strongly preferred, with experience spanning both Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry product lines: Chromatography (GC / LC) Mass Spectrometers (Quadrupole and High Resolution)
  • Preference will be given to candidates currently residing in the Edmonton area
  • Candidates residing elsewhere in Canada who are willing to relocate to the Edmonton area prior to their start date will also be considered
  • Home base preferred in Alberta
