Job Summary
Field Service Engineer II will perform preventative and unscheduled maintenance on Hitachi Industrial and Chemistry products at customer facilities across the United States and internationally. The role involves training under close supervision, learning hookup and operation of tools, maintaining service records, traveling to customer sites, installing systems, providing customer training, and delivering technical guidance to junior field engineers. Willingness to travel up to 50% and work overtime as needed; remote work is supported with locations in OR (remote) and Hillsboro, OR. Primary responsibilities include on-the-job training for instrument certification, responding to customer service calls, maintaining service documentation, managing traveling inventory, ensuring safety and compliance, and performing system installations and field service activities. The role emphasizes customer interaction, problem resolution, and adherence to company policies.
Required Qualifications
- AS degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- BS degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering preferred
- Knowledge of analog and digital circuitry
- Experience using digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, and computers
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Must have and retain valid driver’s license in resident State
- Willingness to relocate and/or travel
- 1 to 3+ years’ experience repairing industrial and/or chemistry equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of customer applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow precise instruction
- Ability to perform routine service calls (Preventive Maintenance and Basic Emergency Service) on instrument models
- Ability to hook up and obtain a signal on instruments selected by immediate manager
- Ability to work from schematics with test equipment and calculations
- Ability to interface with customers and internal teams
- Safety training and PPE requirements
- Dosimetry for XRF equipment maintenance
