Job Summary
Field Service Engineer in automation, traveling across North America to perform on-site mechanical, electrical, and control checks, lead startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems, and support data-center startup activities. You’ll partner with automation and controls engineers to test, troubleshoot, and validate systems, providing clear updates to customers and project teams. Expect rotations such as 5 on–2 off, 10 on–4 off, or 14 on–7 off, with no fixed office locale and travel to customer sites. The role requires a foundation in electrical systems, programming, and networking, a technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience (3+ years), and willingness to be away from home. Training is provided (4 weeks), with opportunities for development, merit raises, and a benefits package including health, dental, life insurance, a 401(k), paid vacation, and flexible time off after 18 months. You’ll work in a collaborative, customer-facing environment within ProAutomated, interacting with diverse teams and customers while maintaining strong communication throughout project cycles.
Required Qualifications
- A technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience (3+ years) in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Must live within 50 miles of a major airport (relocation assistance available)
- Personal vehicle within 45 days of employment (for local projects)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills (implied as part of role)
