Field Service Engineer, Automation and Controls

Job Summary
Diagnose and repair complex industrial control systems, including PLCs, CNC controllers, field bus networks, and drive systems. Read electrical schematics, use multi-meters to diagnose circuits, and perform automated controls system programming. Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and senior management to ensure requirements are understood and communicated. Support field service engineers by traveling to customer sites for new machine commissioning, preventive maintenance, controls upgrades, emergency service, and operator training. Provide input for service bids and quotes. This role requires 5-10 years of field service experience or 2-3 years as a controls engineer. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work over eight hours per day on a second shift and/or weekends, and meet ITAR export control compliance requirements. Travel 50-60% domestically and internationally.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years of field service experience or 2-3 years controls engineer experience
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to work at the company or customer facilities, in excess of eight hours per day or 40 hours per week on a second shift and/or weekends if necessary
- Proficiency in Microsoft office
- Experience demonstrating problem solving abilities and resourcefulness
- This position must meet export control compliance requirements, therefore a 'us person' as defined by 22.c.f.r. § is required
- Must be able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must be able to see, talk, hear, touch, feel and reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to frequently walk & stand for short periods of time
- Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds, occasionally lift and move objects up to 50lbs
- Must be able to work weekends to meet department and business demands
- Work with safe manufacturing processes and understand that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area
- Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area
- Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee reference check, criminal background check, and drug screening

Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in aerospace manufacturing & assembly
- Experience working in automation and/or machine tools industry
- Familiarity with Siemens automation and controls systems
- Ability to learn new software developments in automation
- Capable of building automated assemblies
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing practices including machining and automated drill and fill
- A demonstrated capability to think strategically and execute tactically
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to think independently and problem solve
