Job Summary
Perform on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting for Gatan electron microscopy products across customer sites. Diagnose electronic, vacuum, and mechanical system faults, isolate component-level issues, and execute repairs while delivering training on product operation. Prepare detailed service reports, manage billing and warranty documentation, and identify opportunities for product enhancements based on field experience. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Physics, or Materials Science, extensive travel up to 80%, and the ability to read electrical schematics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, or an equivalent field
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic, vacuum, and mechanical systems
- Strong ability to train and teach technical information to users
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs
- The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in remote or isolated environments
- Strong sense of ownership with an enthusiastic, innovative, and customer-focused approach to problem solving
- Ability to address complex learning and development challenges while effectively communicating highly technical information
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals at all organizational levels
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently
- Extensive travel required, up to 80%
Desired Qualifications
- Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in microscopy
- Experience servicing complex laboratory equipment and systems, including: Electron microscopes (TEM/SEM), Sample preparation equipment, Semiconductor equipment, Medical equipment, Other comparable technical systems
