Job Summary
Field Service Engineer 3 responsible for on-site repair, installation, and maintenance of Lam's complex semiconductor capital equipment at customer sites (notably in Dresden); performs diagnostics and troubleshooting down to component level, participates in complex field modifications, mentors junior engineers, and acts as a subject-matter expert to ensure high customer satisfaction. Onboarding and training will occur on-site or at Lam manufacturing facilities in the USA, Asia, or Austria with potential on-the-job training in Asia, lasting up to six months depending on experience. Travel to Europe or Asia may be required; role supports English, German, and Mandarin language skills and may involve hybrid/remote work arrangements based on location needs.
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree/ Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Microelectronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or in related field and 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience in installation, maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals.
- Able to work in a clean room environment while wearing personal protective safety equipment, or cleanroom suit.
- Frequently position oneself (e.g., bend, stoop, reach, walk, sit, twist, squat, kneel, climb, stand) to perform job tasks for extended periods.
- Able to travel occasionally in Europe or Asia, based on customer needs.
- Flexibility to work a variety shifts including compressed and alternative workweeks including overtime and on-call if needed.
- EU Passport or valid Work Permit in Germany is required.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with common office software including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment, either in ETCH, Thin-Film Deposition or Wafer cleaning area is a plus.
- Fluent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Basic communication skills in German language.
- Mandarin language skills are considered an advantage.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
