Job Summary
Field Service Engineer 2 provides on-site repair, maintenance, and installation/start-up services for Lam’s complex semiconductor equipment at customer sites in Dresden, with hybrid work options combining on-site presence and remote work. Role involves troubleshooting, diagnostics to the component level, cross-team collaboration, and maintaining records; onboarding/training is provided on-site and at Lam facilities in the USA, Asia, or Austria, with potential travel within Europe or Asia. Requires interpretting electrical/mechanical schematics, clean room PPE, and ability to travel; English fluency is required and German basics are preferred; Mandarin is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Degree/Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Microelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field with 2+ years of experience
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals
- Able to work in a clean room environment while wearing PPE
- Frequently position oneself (bend, stoop, reach, walk, sit, twist, squat, kneel, climb, stand) to perform tasks
- Able to travel occasionally within Europe or Asia based on customer needs
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including overtime and on-call
- EU Passport or valid Work Permit for Germany
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in microelectronics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or electrical engineering
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals
- Experience with on-site repair, maintenance, installation, and relocation start-up of complex electro-mechanical systems
- Clean room environment experience and ability to wear PPE
- Willingness to travel within Europe or Asia
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- English language skills; basic German language skills; Mandarin a plus
