Job Summary
Field Service Controls Engineer to support automated systems in Life Sciences; travel to customer sites (planned and unplanned) for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair; provide remote technical support; diagnose and resolve system issues; interpret and troubleshoot pneumatic/electrical schematics; perform robot programming and path modifications; develop and modify control programs; conduct electrical diagnostics; design and support ladder logic and machine control systems; mentor junior engineers; collaborate with customers and internal teams to achieve machine performance objectives; strong background in electrical and pneumatic systems and automation technologies.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls engineering, field service engineering, or a related technical role
- Familiarity with Life Sciences equipment and validation processes
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally up to 75%
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with both mechanical and electrical systems in an automated manufacturing environment
- Required PLC Platforms: Allen-Bradley (Logix / Studio 5000); Siemens (Step 7, TIA Portal); Additional PLC Experience: Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider, Beckhoff
- Required HMI Platforms: Allen-Bradley; Siemens; Additional HMI Experience: Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider, Pro-face
- Required Robotics: FANUC; Epson; Additional Robotics Experience: KUKA, Yaskawa, Denso, Stäubli
- Networking: Ethernet, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, IO-Link, EtherCAT
- Motion Control: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, IAI, Festo, B&R
- Vision Systems: Cognex, Keyence
- Testing & Monitoring Systems: Force Testing (Kistler, SigPOD), Leak Testing (CTS, Cosmo, etc.)
- Database & Monitoring Tools: Ignition, FTTM, SQL
- Physical Demands: ability to stand for extended periods; ability to lift 20–50 lbs occasionally, etc.
