Job Summary
Field Security Officer (2 positions) in Buka and Wewak, reporting to the UNDSS Security Advisor, responsible for implementing the security plan and managing safety/security operations for UNDP/UNV activities at Buka-AROB. Key duties include maintaining security plans and emergency communications, coordinating security clearances, conducting risk assessments, ensuring SRM/RSM compliance, training and capacity-building on security, liaison with host government and other partners, contributing to security policy design, and providing timely security information and incident reporting. Requires experience in security management, strong coordination with UNDSS and local authorities, and relevant certifications; advanced degree in security-related fields preferred, with English and Tok Pisin fluency, and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, or equivalent OR a first-level university degree with additional two years' qualifying experience
- Specialized certification in police, military or security training
- Experience: minimum 2 years with master's degree or 4 years with bachelor's degree in progressively responsible security roles
- Microsoft Office proficiency; Windows-based applications; databases and spreadsheets
- Valid class 6 driver's license
- Fluency in English and Tok Pisin
Desired Qualifications
- MS/MA or equivalent in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management or related field; or BA/BS with additional two years of qualifying experience
