Job Summary
Monitor security issues in the field location, keeping management abreast of risks and facilitating compliance with all security policies and directives. Support the Security Management Team in advising employees and consultants on local environment risks and mitigation measures to support day-to-day programme implementation. Inspect physical security of facilities and ad hoc locations, gathering threat information and recommending risk mitigation approaches consistent with established procedures. Review travel and movement requests to verify security protocols, and assist in updating security procedures and guidelines based on in-country risk assessments. Brief staff on emerging threats and security posture upon request, and report emergency situations promptly while providing immediate practical guidance. Gather information to advise the team on daily security matters and support planning for regular reviews of safety measures to identify deficiencies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/other relevant professional training in security matters
- Minimum 3 years of security experience in UN/NGO/IGO Security Management
- Excellent written and oral French and English
- Good understanding of security risk management principles, including threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, mitigation planning, and the application of security policies and procedures in field settings
- Ability to monitor, analyse, and report on security developments in Niger
- Practical knowledge of safety and security procedures for field missions, staff movement, premises security, emergency preparedness, incident reporting, and crisis response
- Ability to draft clear and concise security advisories, incident reports, and other security-related correspondence in French and English
- Coordination and liaison skills, and ability to engage with local authorities, and community contacts
- Sound judgment and discretion in a complex operating environment
- Ability to remain calm, responsive, and solutions-oriented during emergencies or rapidly evolving security situations
- Good interpersonal and briefing skills, with the ability to promote security awareness and encourage compliance with security procedures among staff and consultants
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, cultural awareness, and ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in using common office software and communication tools
