Field Safety Specialist (Independence Excavating)

Job Summary
Oversee project safety across heavy civil construction sites in the Mid-Atlantic region by enforcing company policies, conducting inspections and audits, and recommending corrective actions. Assist in developing safety procedures, facilitating training sessions, and leading incident investigations to foster a safety-conscious culture. Travel 75% locally and 25% regionally, with some overnight trips required, while maintaining OSHA 30-hour and First Aid/CPR certifications. Manage responsibilities across multiple job sites in all weather conditions, communicating effectively with field workers and managers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Safety Management or equivalent
- 2-5 years of relevant safety experience in heavy civil construction
- OSHA 30 Required
- First Aid/CPR Required
- Must be energetic to continually learn more about construction, industry-related safety, and keeping our workers safe
- This job is physically demanding, and prospects must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
- Some job sites may require working in environments that can be very uncomfortable
- Prospects must be able to work on project sites in all weather conditions
- Must be able to communicate with field workers and field managers
- Has the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Willingness and ability to manage responsibilities and time according to the requirements of each job site
- Supervision or leadership experience
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
