Job Summary
Field Safety Advisor based in the Wasoqonatl Transmission Line project, Amherst, NS. Responsibilities include acting as a visible safety resource in the field, coaching field staff to meet safety expectations, assisting with incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions, participating in regular safety meetings, reviewing tailboards and hazard mitigation, conducting observations/inspections/drills, facilitating weekly safety meetings and reporting, supporting the development and review of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and enforcing Valard’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual while staying current with applicable provincial legislation. The role requires post-secondary education in a related field and related safety certifications, with a schedule of 24 days on / 14 days off and 10-hour days. LOA provided.
Required Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- 5 years of construction site safety experience
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Certification
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated familiarity with applicable provincial legislations
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver's abstract
Desired Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- 5 years of construction site safety experience
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Certification
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) certification (preferred)
- Demonstrated familiarity with applicable provincial legislations
- Driver's license with driver's abstract
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
