Field Safety Advisor

Job Summary
Be a visible safety resource in the field to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors per the Site Safety Management Plan. Communicate, coach, and assist field staff to meet safety expectations while participating in incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions. Review tailboards daily to address hazards, perform observations and emergency drills, and facilitate weekly safety meetings with minute capture. Provide support to supervisors for developing Job Safety Analyses and apply Valard's Health, Safety and Environmental Manual across all activities. Work a schedule of 14 days on/7 days off with 10-hour days, including LOA. Maintain familiarity with Nova Scotia legislation and client requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- 5 years of construction site safety experience
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Certification
- Experience with Microsoft office applications
- Proven experience dealing with client requirements and providing administrative assistance with matters relating to safety
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (a record) for review
- Demonstrated familiarity with applicable provincial legislations (Nova Scotia)
- Must be able to work a schedule of 14 days on / 7 days off
- 10 hour days
- LOA will be provided
- Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supporting electrical or data center construction projects
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) certification
- Root cause investigation experience
