Job Summary
Investigate and evaluate onsite damage to prepare complete repair estimates, including accessing roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and basements. Handle moderate to complex claims independently from first notice of loss to final closure while coordinating with contractors, emergency repair, and cleaning vendors. Explain coverage of loss, assist policyholders with itemization and emergency repairs, and work in a vehicle daily with occasional desk assignments. May be called upon for catastrophe duty. Candidates must obtain proper licensing, possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with at least one year in claims, and live within or near Canton, OH.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of claims handling procedures and operations
- Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Effective negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgment
- Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer skills with the ability to work with multi-faceted systems
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of directly related experience
- Ability to obtain proper licensing as required
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and organize your day
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated understanding of building construction principles
- Candidates should live within or near Canton, OH (44709) and surrounding areas
- Must be able to access roofs by ladder
- Must be able to inspect attics, crawl spaces and basements
- Must be able to work in a vehicle in the field daily
- Must be available for occasional desk assignments
- Must be available for catastrophe duty
