Job Summary
Investigate and evaluate onsite damage to prepare complete repair estimates, including accessing roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and basements. Handle moderate to complex claims independently from first notice of loss to final closure while coordinating vendor services for contractors and emergency repairs. Explain coverage of loss and assist policyholders with itemization, emergency repairs, and additional living arrangements. Work in a vehicle daily within the Canton, OH territory, with occasional desk assignments and limited overnight travel for training. May be called upon for catastrophe duty. This role requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus one year directly related experience, proper licensing, and strong negotiation skills.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of claims handling procedures and operations
- Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Effective negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgment
- Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer skills with the ability to work with multi-faceted systems
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of directly related experience
- Ability to obtain proper licensing as required
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and organize your day
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated understanding of building construction principles
- Must be able to travel locally to insured homes within Canton, OH (44709) and surrounding areas
- Must live within or near Canton, OH (44709) and surrounding areas
- Must be available for occasional handling of assignments from the desk
- Must be available for catastrophe duty
