Job Summary
Conduct field investigations for residential and commercial property losses, including roof inspections, attic access, and content inventory reviews. Analyze policy language, endorsements, and exclusions to determine coverage applicability and claim exposure. Evaluate claims ranging from routine to high-severity cases, preparing repair estimates using Xactimate and establishing appropriate reserves. Document damage through photographs, measurements, and interviews while drafting settlement, denial, and reservation of rights correspondence. Negotiate settlements within established authority and coordinate engineers, contractors, and consultants as necessary. Maintain accurate documentation, billing records, and expense reporting while managing a high-volume caseload and meeting quality standards. Maintain compliance with state regulations and industry best practices, including obtaining required adjuster licenses.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required state adjuster licenses
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to traverse roofs
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to access confined or restricted areas
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, push, and pull as necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Additional education in insurance, construction, business, engineering, or a related field
- Previous property claims adjusting experience
- Experience with Xactimate estimating software
- Knowledge of residential and commercial construction methods, materials, and repair practices
- Ability to interpret insurance policy language and apply coverage provisions accurately
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written documentation and professional communication abilities
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize competing deadlines
- Proficiency with claims management systems, estimating platforms, and standard business software
- Residential and commercial property claims experience
- Catastrophe and storm-related losses experience
- Water, fire, wind, hail, and structural damage assessments experience
- Coverage analysis and Reservation of Rights investigations experience
- Contents evaluation and inventory review experience
- Subrogation investigations experience
- Independent adjusting or third-party administrator environments experience
