Job Summary
Field Payroll Specialist responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for 600+ employees across multiple companies, handling weekly union/nonunion payrolls, timecards, corrections, and adjustments from field locations; manages manual layoff/termination/adjustment checks, transfers, and cost reporting; maintains payroll-related reports and ensures compliance with payroll accounting laws; requires proficiency with in-house software, 10-key, Microsoft Office, and ability to train subordinates and assist in month-end closing; emphasizes accuracy, timeliness, multitasking, and effective communication.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
- Minimum 6 years’ work experience in payroll, preferably with a union employer
- Financial/payroll/tax related training a plus
- Ability to use computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Oracle preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, proactive and a team player
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients
